Jayhawks in the NFL: Preseason Week Three

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Week three of the NFL Preseason begins on Thursday, as 11 Jayhawks take the field for their respective NFL teams as they approach the start of the 2019 NFL regular season.

Steven Sims Jr., and the Washington Redskins get things started on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. CT, as they square off against the Atlanta Falcons, followed by Tyler Patmon and the Miami Dolphins, who take on Jacksonville Jaguars at 7 p.m. CT on FOX. The remaining nine Jayhawks will hit the field on Saturday, as players look to find a spot on the final 53-man roster of their respective teams, which will be finalized on August 31.

Falcons vs. Redskins

Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. CT

Jayhawks in Action: Steven Sims Jr. (Washington Redskins)

In last week’s matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, Steven Sims Jr., registered one reception for 16 yards in 19 offensive snaps. Sims Jr., who is in his first NFL training camp, looks to make a strong impression in week three against the Atlanta Falcons.

 

Dolphins vs. Jaguars

Thursday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. CT

Jayhawks in Action: Tyler Patmon (Miami Dolphins)

Last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tyler Patmon saw action in six defensive plays for the Miami Dolphins.

 

Texans vs. Cowboys

Saturday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. CT

Jayhawks in Action: Daniel Wise (Dallas Cowboys), Dorance Armstrong Jr. (Dallas Cowboys)

Both Daniel Wise and Dorance Armstrong Jr., made an appearance for the Dallas Cowboys a week ago, where Armstrong Jr., registered two tackles in 32 defensive snaps, while Wise registered one tackle in 25 plays. Both Cowboys will look to make the most of their week three matchup with the Houston Texans on Saturday.

 

Bears vs. Colts

Saturday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. CT

Jayhawks in Action: John Wirtel (Chicago Bears), Shakial Taylor (Indianapolis Colts)

A pair of Jayhawks, John Wirtel and Shakial Taylor will square off on Saturday night, as the Chicago Bears take on the Indianapolis Colts. Last week, Taylor made two combined tackles in 12 defensive snaps, while Wirtel appeared as a long snapper on special teams on three occasions for the Bears.

Broncos vs. Rams

Saturday, Aug. 24 at 8 p.m. CT

Jayhawks in Action: Chris Harris Jr. (Denver Broncos), Joe Dineen Jr. (Denver Broncos), Aqib Talib (Los Angeles Rams)

Saturday night also serves as a Jayhawk reunion for Chris Harris Jr., and Aqib Talib, as the former teammates square off as the Denver Bronocs take on the Los Angeles Rams. A week ago, Harris Jr., saw action for the Broncos on 16 defensive snaps, accounting for two tackles, while Talib did not see action a week ago against the Dallas Cowboys. Rookie Joe Dineen Jr., suffered a broken hand against the San Francisco 49ers last week.

Seahawks vs. Chargers

Saturday, Aug. 24 at 9 p.m. CT

Jayhawks in Action: Ben Johnson (Los Angeles Chargers), Bradley McDougald (Seattle Seahawks)

Newly-signed Ben Johnson and the Los Angeles Chargers take on Bradley McDougald and the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday to round out Jayhawks in action this weekend. In his debut for the Chargers, Johnson made one tackle on special teams, while playing in nine offensive snaps against the New Orleans Saints. Meanwhile, Bradley McDougald made the start at safety for the Seattle Seahawks last week against the Minnesota Vikings. The pair of Jayhawks kick off on Saturday at 9 p.m. CT.
