Celebrating 50 Years of Title IX

June 23, 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX. This federal civil rights law has been credited with profoundly changing education in the United States by barring sex discrimination in the nation's schools. Title IX, along with other equity laws, helped unlock access to educational and athletics opportunities, paving the way for women in college athletics and society as a whole. Title IX paved the way for countless Jayhawks to success at KU and beyond.

Title IX Legislation

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. Signed by President Nixon on June 23, 1972.
