Kansas Athletics to Launch “The Jayhawk Experience”

LAWRENCE, Kan.  Kansas Athletics announced plans today to offer new and unprecedented fan experiences at historic Allen Fieldhouse, as well as other KU Athletics venues, as part of an initiative to create additional access to the sports facilities. Access to the Booth Family Hall of Athletics will continue to remain free with the ability to purchase private tours for additional access around Allen Fieldhouse.

“Our athletics department is committed to creating opportunities that provide more access, unique experiences and quality entertainment for all fans, not only on game days, and The Jayhawk Experience will be pivotal in this endeavor,” said Director of Athletics Jeff Long. “Here at KU, we are fortunate to have some of the most historical and world-class sports facilities in the country and we want to share this piece of history with everyone year-round.”

The Jayhawk Experience will showcase many of the athletics venues and iconic exhibits, including Allen Fieldhouse and Dr. Naismith’s original “Rules of Basket Ball,” Hoglund Ballpark, the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena, Anschutz Pavilion, and the Booth Family Hall of Athletics. Experience Guides will deliver the story of the program’s rich history, traditions and celebrated student-athletes.

In addition to The Jayhawk Experience, the athletics facilities will now be available to rent for private events on a limited basis, including corporate meetings, holiday parties and receptions.

“If you ask our staff, every week for many, many years we have turned down requests for public events and private tours. We simply haven’t had the resources to accommodate the thousands and thousands of requests we receive from KU fans and sports fans in general,” said Deputy Athletics Director Chris Freet. “This partnership with Complex Sports & Entertainment allows Kansas Athletics to fulfill many, if not most, of those requests going forward and most importantly open our facilities to potential Jayhawk fans.  More people than ever before will have access to the best and most iconic basketball arena in the world because of this new partnership. Complex Sports has a broad level of expertise and industry experience to manage the volume of requests and deliver a top-notch experience.”

As a part of The Jayhawk Experience, fans will have the opportunity to have their holiday photos taken at James Naismith Court in Allen Fieldhouse, each Saturday from November 9-December 14. Photo sessions will begin inside the Booth Family Hall of Athletics on the east side of Allen Fieldhouse at 1651 Naismith Dr.

Tickets for The Jayhawk Experience Holiday Photos are currently available at www.JayhawkExperience.com. The experience cost is $15.00 per person, and children under two years old are free. Each group will receive a digital copy of their photo.

The Jayhawk Experience tours will go on sale in January. Private events and group tours are available by sending inquiries to contact@jayhawkexperience.com.
