Kansas Classic

The seventh-annual Kansas Classic will take place Friday, Nov. 12 – Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at the Capitol Federal Natatorium at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka, Kansas. The meet will follow the NCAA Championship meet format. Events will be circle seeded for the preliminary heats with the top-three heats making it back to the finals in the 500-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley; the top-four heats in all 100- and 200-yard races; and the top-five heats in the 50-yard freestyle. The fastest heat of the 1,650-yard freestyle will be swum during finals. All other heats will be swum fastest to slowest at the end of the prelims. Only the top-two finishing relays are scored per team. All relays will be swum as timed finals.

Competition Pool

The pool features eight lanes used for competition, with another 12 lanes to be utilized for continuous warm-up and cool down.

Warmups

A continual warmup and cool down course will be available throughout the duration of the meet. The last 35 minutes of warmup may be used for starts and pace in the competition pool.

Scoring

The meet will feature championships scoring. Athletes may score in four individual events and on all relays. Championship A finals score as: 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11; Championship B finals score as: 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1; Relays score as: 40-34-32-30-28-26-24-22-18-14-12-10-8-6-4-2.

Awards

The top-two individual scorers from each team will be honored as the All-Invite Team. The top scorer overall will be recognized as the Invite Most Valuable Swimmer. Any tie will be resolved by a vote amongst the coaches.
