Kansas earns 24 entries for NCAA West Prelims

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country Committee has announced the participants that will compete in the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field East and West Preliminary Rounds, with Kansas earning a total of 24 entries for the West Prelims scheduled for May 23-25 at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California.

The No. 22-ranked Kansas men’s team will have 12 total entries, including one from the 4×400-meter relay team and three from freshman Cordell Tinch, while the Jayhawk women also earned a total of 12 entries across 10 events, including two entries each in the 400-meter dash, the 800-meter run and the pole vault.

The NCAA Selection Committee accepted the top-48 entries in each individual event and the top-24 relay teams in both relays to compete at each site hosting the NCAA Preliminary Rounds.

When competing in the NCAA Preliminary Rounds, the top-12 finishers in each open and relay event will qualify for the national semifinal and final rounds of the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas, June 5-8.
