Kansas falls in extra innings at Iowa State

AMES, Iowa – After battling nine innings against Iowa State, the Cyclones earned the 3-2 victory over Kansas on a walk-off home run at the Cyclones Sports Complex.

Senior pitcher Brynn Minor pitched the entire game for the Jayhawks and finished with 8.1 innings pitched with one walk and one strikeout.

Kansas jumped on the board first, plating their first run of the game in the second inning.

Becki Monaghan started the inning with a walk and later scored on a Miranda Rodriguez infield single.

Iowa State responded in the bottom of the third, netting one run on a double to left center.

KU again jumped ahead in the fifth on a Morgyn Wynne double to right center that scored Brittany Jackson, but the Cyclones tied the game in the bottom half.

Each side remained scoreless in the sixth innings.

A double play in the bottom of the seventh stopped a Cyclone runner at home and another attempting to take second base, which pushed the game to extra innings.

Kansas and Iowa State both were held scoreless in the eighth, and the Jayhawks were unable to push across a run in the top of the ninth.

After Kansas recorded the first out of the inning, Iowa State tallied the walk-off on a solo home run.
