Kansas rowing set for Big 12 Double Dual

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The University of Kansas rowing will go head-to-head with Big 12 foes Oklahoma and Texas on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City this weekend.

Racing is set to commence at 8 a.m. Central time on Saturday and will conclude at approximately 4 p.m. The morning session features head-to-head races against the Sooners, while the afternoon session will be against the Longhorns.

“Right now, we are trying to be as competitive as we can with Oklahoma because we feel like that’s a team we know we can row at a high level against,” head coach Rob Catloth said. “We also know Texas is a one of the top-10 teams in the country right now. We want to race our absolute best when we are racing them. We’ve raced another top-10 team earlier in the year, when we went up against Michigan, so, we know what it’s like. We’ve just got to continue to be our fastest, even if we’re chasing another team.”

The Jayhawks will look to pick where they left off last weekend, continuing to increase the level of racing they are at.

“We talk all the time about wanting to be a top-20 caliber team, so, we have to put ourselves in competition with those teams to prove ourselves on the water,” Catloth said. “I think we’re getting closer to that range, but we’ve got to continue to make steps to get to that level.”
