LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas tennis team is ranked in the top-20 for the 14th-consecutive week, coming in at No. 13 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll released Tuesday.
Kansas is coming off winning its first-ever Big 12 Conference Championship, including victories over then-No. 12 Oklahoma State Saturday and then-No. 7 Texas Sunday at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
The Jayhawks (19-4 overall, 7-2 in the Big 12) have won eight-straight matches.
KU’s first doubles team of seniors Janet Koc and Nina Khmelnitckaia remain ranked No. 3 in the nation. This spring, the duo has notched a 16-1 record, including a 5-0 record against nationally ranked opponents. For the overall 2018-19 season, the tandem is 10-4 when playing against other ranked doubles teams.
Also in doubles, Kansas’ Anastasia Rychagova and Sonia Smagina are now ranked No. 85 with a 17-3 record this spring.
In singles, Rychagova has worked her way into the top-20, coming in at No. 17 this week. She is 17-2 this spring, 9-2 against nationally ranked opponents. Throughout the fall and spring seasons combined, she has compiled a 10-3 mark against ranked foes. Fellow Kansas senior Koch is ranked No. 110 in singles.
