LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women’s tennis head coach Todd Chapman released the team’s 2018-19 schedule Monday, as the Jayhawks look for a fourth-straight appearance in postseason play. Thirteen opponents on the Jayhawks’ 2019 schedule made the NCAA Tournament in 2018. Of those 13 teams, 10 advanced to the round of 32 or better. Throughout the upcoming season, KU will face eight top-25 teams, 10 top-35 teams and 14 top-50 teams.

“We have always had the mindset (that) we want to play the best possible schedule we can, so we can see what is working and what we need to improve (on) in each player’s overall development,” said Chapman. “We believe we have a really strong team this year, so it will be fun and exciting to see them get out and compete against some of the nation’s best teams.”

Kansas’ 2018-19 schedule features eight fall tournaments and two spring tournaments, followed by 21 dual matches. KU will host one of those fall tournaments at the Jayhawk Tennis Center at Rock Chalk Park, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) 25K Lawrence, Nov. 4-10.

“We are really excited and pleased with our fall and spring schedules,” said Chapman. “As the level of the team has risen the last few years, we have really looked to push our players with our schedule.”

The spring schedule will begin with two tournaments: the Orlando Invitational and the ITA Kickoff Tournament in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A home match against Northwestern (Jan. 20) separates the pair of tourneys.

In Big 12 Conference play, the Jayhawks will host Texas Tech (March 29), TCU (March 31), Iowa State (April 5), West Virginia (April 7) and Kansas State (April 13). Kansas will go on the road to face league foes Oklahoma State (March 15), Oklahoma (March 17), Baylor (March 22) and Texas (March 24).

The Jayhawks will open the season with the Duke Invitational Sept. 13-15, in Durham, N.C.
