🎾 Kansas Tennis Set to Host Big 12 Championship

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women’s tennis is set to host the 2023 Big 12 Tennis Championship from April 20-23 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center and Lawrence Sports Pavilion. Kansas enters the Championship as the No. 6 seed and will play against Iowa State in the Big 12 quarterfinal on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.

The Big 12 Championship features both the men’s and women’s competitions, with the women’s championship beginning on Thursday, April 20 and the men’s championship on Friday, April 21.

Kansas enters the 2023 Big 12 Championship ranked No. 28 in the country after compiling a 14-6 overall record. The Jayhawks finished 4-5 in Big 12 Conference play while holding an 8-3 record at home this season. The Big 12 Championship returns to Lawrence for the first time since 2019, when the Jayhawks defeated Texas for the Big 12 women’s title.

Oklahoma and Texas split a share of the 2023 Big 12 regular season title on the women’s side, while Texas claimed the Big 12 regular season title for the men. The Big 12 is represented by eight women’s teams in the latest ITA rankings including No. 11 Iowa State, No. 12 Texas, No. 14 Oklahoma, No. 18 Oklahoma State, No. 28 Kansas, No. 36 Texas Tech, No. 40 Baylor and No. 49 TCU. On the men’s side, the Big 12 was represented by No. 1 Texas, No. 3 TCU, No. 31 Texas Tech, No. 35 Oklahoma, No. 42 Baylor and No. 47 Oklahoma State.
