👟 Kansas Track & Field Mourns the Loss of Warren Wilhoite
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Former Kansas track & field All-American and three-time Big Eight Champion Warren Wilhoite passed away on Thursday. He was 51.
Wilhoite competed on the Kansas track & field team from 1980-83, where he was an All-American in the long jump in 1980, 1982 and 1983. Wilhoite was also a Big Eight Conference Champion in 1980 and 1983.
Wilhoite’s top marks are still among the best in Kansas track & field history, holding four of the top performances in the long jump indoor history, while he is the No. 4 performer in KU indoor history with his jump of 7.88m (25-10.25 ft.) at the Eastman Invitational in 1982.
