KU tennis heads to Marliss Gruver Memorial Tournament

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Following two-consecutive tournament championships, Kansas tennis is set to compete in the inaugural Marliss Gruver Memorial Tournament in Auburn, Alabama, this weekend. Matches are scheduled to take place at the Yarbrough Tennis Center, Oct. 26-28.
 
The Jayhawks are among eight teams competing in the Marliss Gruver Memorial Tournament. Kansas will face off against players from host school Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Ole Miss and Big 12 conference foe Oklahoma.
 
Freshmen Julia Deming and Malkia Ngounoue and sophomore Plobrung Plipuech are prepared to repreent the Jayhawks and take to the court this weekend.
 
Opening rounds of the tournament will begin Friday at 9 a.m., with two rounds of doubles followed by one round of singles. Doubles finals will take place Saturday with singles finals on Sunday.
 
The tournament is being held in honor of Marliss Gruver, the director of operations for the Auburn women’s tennis team who lost her battle with cancer in November of 2017.
