KU tennis to host fan-focused Pro-Am event

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Head coach Todd Chapman announced Wednesday that the Kansas tennis program will host a Pro-Am at the Jayhawk Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 20, from 3-6 p.m. The Pro-Am gives fans an opportunity to pay to compete with, or against, their favorite Jayhawk.

“We are really excited to host the inaugural pro-am with the Kansas tennis team,” said Chapman. “This is a great opportunity for alumni, past players and fans, to spend quality personal time with the team. We think it will be a great event with tennis, dinner and a silent auction. We are really looking forward to spending time with those people who support our program.”

Participants will have the opportunity to play with any of the eight members of the 2018-19 roster, in addition to the 2018 Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year Despoina Vogasari (2017-18). Due to NCAA rules, no individuals of prospect-age (anyone who has started the ninth grade) may participate in this activity.

At the Pro-Am, the price to compete with a Kansas tennis team member is $200 per player. Each duo will have the chance to match up against another Jayhawk and her partner, with dinner included in the price. Another option is to play with a partner of your own choice for $200 each, dinner included, should participants prefer not to partner up with a current Jayhawk. For anyone who does not wish to take part in the actual tennis play, a dinner-only option is also offered at a price of $50 per person.

In addition to the play on the courts, a silent auction will also take place during the day’s events. Included among the amenities to bid on are: one-on-one lessons, mixers with the team, exclusive travel with the team and much more. Please keep in mind that the auction items are not available to anyone of prospect-age, per NCAA legislation.
