KU volleyball adds Nielsen to 2019 roster
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas volleyball head coach Ray Bechard announced the addition of Sara Nielsen, who joins Morgan Christon, Riley Foltz, Rachel Hickman and Gracie Van Driel as new additions to the Jayhawks in 2019.
Nielsen transfers to Kansas after playing her first two seasons at Minnesota. The setter played in 23 matches over the previous two seasons including 40 sets played in 19 matches last season.
Prior to her time at Minnesota, the Gelen Ellyn, Ill., native played for Benet Academy and the Mizuno Sports Performance Volleyball Club. Nielsen was named a 2016 Under Armour All-America Honorable mention and was ranked 69th in the Prepvolleyball.com’s Senior Aces.
At Benet Academy, she helped lead Benet to sectional and conference championships in 2015 and a regional championship in 2016.
Nielsen played five years for Mizuno Sports Performance Volleyball and won the 18-Open National Championship, a world championship and was a 2015 AAU All-American.
