KU Women's Golf Signees Leave Their Mark on Philippine Golf Tour Event

The ICTSI Champion Tour provided a glimpse into the future of Kansas women’s golf. Playing in a Philippine Golf Tour pro-am event at the Manila Southwoods course, March 14-16, KU signees Pauline Del Rosario and Annika Cedo, both from the Philippines, finished in the top 25 of the 69-golfer field, with Del Rosario grabbing a top-five finish.

Del Rosario, from the City of Las Piñas, scored a 210 (-6) to finish fourth. After shooting a 74 (+2) in the first round, Del Rosario quickly found her groove and shot under par in each of the last two rounds. Her remarkably steady play, just seven shots over-par during the 54-hole event, helped her achieve yet another high finish. She adds another line to a resume that includes three tournament titles in the past year.

Cedo placed tied for 22nd after carding a 219 (+3). She shot under-par in her third round, recording a 71 (-1). The Paranaque native will arrive at KU with much prior success in U.S tournaments, having garnered top-10 finishes at the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, the Under Armour/Gary Woodland Championship and the AJGA Kansas Junior at Buffalo Dunes.

“The course was challenging because you had to be good in positioning your ball,” Cedo said. “The greens were really fast, that’s why we had to know the pacing and the breaks.”

As for the current Kansas golfers, the Jayhawks will return to action March 21-23 for the SDSU Farms Invitational in San Diego, California.
