Sweet Style to Honor Kansas Basketball Tradition
LAWRENCE, Kan. – A year ago, adidas and Kansas men’s basketball stepped up their swag game with a set of intricately-designed new uniforms. The two are well-suited for each other as adidas and the 2015 Jayhawks unveil another new look Thursday.
adidas and the University of Kansas released the Heritage Classic uniform the Jayhawks will wear during their matchup against the Texas Longhorns on February 28.
Inspired by the Jayhawks’ 1988 National Championship uniform, the Heritage Classic uniform pays homage to the successful history of Kansas basketball. Featuring the best of the past and present, the new uniform is made with the same lightweight Revolution 30 technology used in the NBA, and showcases throwback letters, numbering and logos inspired by the 1988 uniform.
A special callout on the jersey’s back collar, “NCAA CHAMPS 1988,” further commemorates the Jayhawks’ champion history. Fans should note that the signature finishing touch adorning the collar is only on the student-athlete’s game jerseys to remind the wearer of the heritage of the program as they don them.
The Jayhawks are celebrating the 60th anniversary of Allen Fieldhouse throughout the 2014-15 season, which wouldn’t be complete without referencing the 1988 Danny Manning and the Miracles squad. Kansas will sport the throwback style when the Jayhawks host Texas on Saturday, Feb. 28, and a limited number of replica jerseys will be available immediately to fans at KUStore in Allen Fieldhouse, and at KUStore.com within the week.
