Andrew Wiggins Named CBSSports.com Preseason Player of the Year

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The list of 2013-14 preseason accolades continue for Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins as CBSSports.com named the guard its national preseason Player of the Year Sept. 26.

Joining Wiggins on the preseason All-American team, is Oklahoma State sophomore guard Marcus Smart, Creighton senior forward Doug McDermott, Louisville senior guard Russ Smith and Kentucky freshman forward Julius Randle.

Wiggins, from Thornhill, Ontario, Canada, has been recognized in many preseason publications. Blue Ribbon Magazine has the 6-8 guard on its preseason All-America team and lists him as the national Newcomer of the Year. The Sporting News and Athlon Sports also have Wiggins on their preseason All-America teams with Athlon naming Wiggins an International Dream Team starter.

As a team, Kansas is ranked no lower than No. 6 nationally in the 2013-14 preseason polls. Lindy’s preseason publication has the Jayhawks at No. 4, while ESPN.com lists them No. 5 and Blue Ribbon and Sporting News each have KU ranked No. 6.
