Self, Jayhawks Meet Media Before Late Night

LAWRENCE, Kan. – One day remains before Kansas unofficially kicks off its season at Late Night in the Phog in Allen Fieldhouse, leaving time for head coach Bill Self and select Jayhawks to meet with the media Thursday afternoon.

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will welcome fans to their home court for the beloved annual tradition Friday night. With the Jayhawk men wrapping up their first week of practice, Self and players Perry Ellis, Tarik Black and Naadir Tharpe answered questions on several topics.  Areas of focus included Black being named the 2013-14 Big 12 Preseason Newcomer of the Year and Ellis earning Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors.

The 2013 Late Night in the Phog, presented by Hy-Vee, will run from 6:30 p.m. to approximately 10 p.m. Admission is free; doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Children, 12 and under, will not be admitted without an adult, and the Fieldhouse doors will be closed when the arena reaches capacity.
