Kansas Hold First Practice of 2014-15 Hoops Season

LAWRENCE, Kan. – One day after media day, the basketballs inside the KU Practice Gym were officially bouncing as the Kansas’ men’s basketball team conducted its first practice of the 2014-15 season Friday afternoon.

KU 12th-year head coach Bill Self and his staff welcomed back 10 returners, including starters Perry Ellis and Wayne Selden, Jr., and six newcomers from a team which went 25-10 in 2013-14 and won KU’s 10th-straight Big 12 and NCAA-leading 57th conference regular-season title.

KU will host the 30th Annual Late Night in the Phog on Friday, Oct. 10, inside historic Allen Fieldhouse. On Oct. 27, The Fieldhouse will host an evening of fun with the “Celebrating 60 Years” event on James Naismith Court. The gathering will feature the last four coaches – Ted Owens, Larry Brown, Roy Williams and Self – who have coached in Allen Fieldhouse dating back to 1964-65. Allen Fieldhouse opened March 1, 1955, and is celebrating its 60th season in 2014-15.
