Huge turnout for Kansas basketball's holiday clinic

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Fresh off its 27th-consecutive conference-opening victory, the No. 11/11 Kansas men’s basketball team hosted approximately 700 youth at its annual holiday clinic Saturday afternoon.

The goals were lowered in Allen Fieldhouse and the adjacent gymnasiums for the first through sixth grade boys and girls who learned from the KU men’s basketball players, coaches and staff in the three-hour clinic. The participants broke into age groups and rotated between the KU practice facility, the Horejsi Family Athletic Center and Allen Fieldhouse learning and practicing fundamentals and skills with the 11th-ranked Jayhawks. The clinic ended with an autograph/photo session with the KU squad.

Just a day earlier, Kansas (11-2, 1-0) defeated Texas in Austin, 92-86, to go 1-0 in league play for a mindboggling 27th-straight year, a run which started in 1992. The Jayhawks start a two-game stretch against ranked foes when they play host to No. 22/21 Texas Tech (12-2, 1-0) on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 8 p.m. on ESPN. KU will then travel to No. 10/8 TCU on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN2.
