Jayhawks host young fans for annual holiday clinic

LAWRENCE, Kan. – As they head into the final days of 2018, the No. 5/5 Kansas Jayhawks hosted approximately 530 youth at their annual holiday clinic Thursday afternoon.

The goals were lowered in Allen Fieldhouse and the adjacent gymnasiums for the first through sixth grade boys and girls who learned from the KU men’s basketball players, coaches and staff in the three-hour clinic. The participants broke into age groups and rotated between the KU practice facility, the Anschutz indoor football facility and Allen Fieldhouse learning and practicing fundamentals and skills with the fifth-ranked Jayhawks. The clinic also included an autograph/photo session with the KU squad.

The Jayhawks will get one final tune-up prior to the beginning of Big 12 play when they host the Eastern Michigan Eagles in Lawrence on Saturday, December 29. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. on ESPN+. KU will then begin the quest for its 15th-straight regular-season conference title when the Oklahoma Sooners come to Allen Fieldhouse in the Big 12 opener on Wednesday, Jan. 2. The Jayhawks and Sooners will meet for the 215th time in the contest set for 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
