LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas basketball rose to a No. 1 ranking in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and remained at No. 2 in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25, ahead of a Big Monday matchup on the road against Iowa State tonight (8 p.m. Central, ESPN).

After rattling off 16-straight victories, Kansas (16-1, 5-0 Big 12) holds the top-ranked spot in the coaches’ poll for the 57th time in program history. KU received 23 first-place votes in the coaches’ poll and has maintained a top-10 ranking in the poll all season.

In the AP poll, the Jayhawks received more first-place votes (32) than new-No. 1 Villanova (28), but the Wildcats edged KU in total poll points, 1,580 to 1,562.
