Rankings update: Jayhawks No. 3 ahead of Big Monday matchup

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas basketball is ranked No. 3 both the USA Today NABC Coaches’ Poll and the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 released on Monday.

The No. 3/3 Jayhawks play two road games in the back-half stretch of conference play this week, including tonight’s ESPN Big Monday matchup at Kansas State (8 p.m. CT, ESPN). The Wildcats received votes in both polls after defeating then-No. 2/3 Baylor on Saturday.  

Kansas (20-3, 8-2 Big 12) has been ranked in each of the last 156 AP polls and 160 coaches’ polls dating back to the 2008-09 season, which are the longest active streaks in the nation, respectively.

The Jayhawks are 3-0 against top-10 team this season.

KU entered the 2016-17 season No. 3 in the AP poll and No. 2 in the coaches’ poll and have maintained a top-10 ranking in both polls all season. 

Big 12 teams in the polls
There are three Big 12 Conference teams ranked in this week’s top 10 in the national polls, including No. 3/3 Kansas, No. 6/8 Baylor and No. 13/14 West Virginia. Iowa State, Oklahoma State and Kansas State are receiving votes in both polls.
