Trio of Jayhawks Listed on NABC All-District 8 Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas trio of Perry Ellis, Frank Mason III and Wayne Selden Jr. have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2015-16 NABC Division I All-District 8 team, the NABC announced Friday.

Ellis is a first-team selection for the second-straight year while Mason and Selden are second-team honorees. Mason was also a second-team selection last season.

District 8 consists of the Big 12 Conference current membership. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes and coaches represent the finest basketball players and coaches across America.

After his 27 points against Maryland in the NCAA Sweet Sixteen on Thursday, Ellis has scored 20 or more points in three straight and seven of his last eight contests. The Wichita product leads Kansas in scoring at 17.2 ppg and is second in rebounding at 5.9 rpg. Ellis has 16 games or 20 or more points this season and averaged 17.7 points and 5.8 rebounds during Big 12 play.

Selden scores 13.7 points per game and has averaged 18.3 ppg in three NCAA Championship games. The Roxbury, Massachusetts guard leads KU with 74 3-pointers this season. At 40.4 percent, Selden is one of eight Jayhawks making 40 percent or better from 3-point range.

Mason is averaging 12.8 points for the season. The Petersburg, Virginia guard leads KU with 4.6 assists per contest and is second on the team with 49 steals.

The dynamic trio will have an opportunity to lead Kansas to the Final Four when the top-ranked Jayhawks (34-4) face No. 6 Villanova on Saturday in the NCAA Championship South Regional final on Saturday night (7:50 p.m. Central, CBS) in Louisville.
