Paving the way for the Jayhawks were junior Ben Sigel and freshman Luke Kluver. Sigel shot 3-under par 69 and sits in a five-way tie for first place on the leaderboard. Kluver carded 2-under par 70 and is tied for sixth.

"Ben had a good start and freshman Luke Kluver was solid as well."

Head Coach Jamie Bermel

Notre Dame shot 5-under par 283 and sits atop the leaderboard. KU shot 2-under par 286 and trails the Fighting Irish by three strokes heading into Monday’s second round.

"We got off to a nice start on day one. Overall, we had typical early-season mistakes with a few careless three-putts and a few mental mistakes. I think if we tighten those things up a bit we can improve day-to-day."

The second of three rounds is set for Monday morning at 9 a.m. (Central), and live scoring can be followed at Birdiefire.com.
