Men's golf earns regional bid

LAWRENCE, Kan. For the second-straight season, Kansas men’s golf will head to the NCAA Regionals as the team was named an at-large selection and will be the seventh seed in the Texas regional in Austin. The event will take place at The University of Texas Golf Club May 15-17.

“We are super excited to go to Texas,” head coach Jamie Bermel said. “I like our draw and I know the guys will be ready for the challenge. Four of the five guys traveling to compete played in a regional last year, so we have some NCAA experience.”

This marks the 19th time in program history that Kansas will compete in an NCAA Regional and the second-consecutive season under Bermel. It will be the first back-to-back appearances for the Jayhawks since the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.

Kansas will look to advance to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2000 under the late Ross Randall. In order to do so, Kansas will have to place within the top-five of the 14 team field in Texas.

Accompanying the Jayhawks will be No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 16 Texas, No. 22 Ole Miss, Arizona State, NC State, Liberty, Iowa State, Georgia Southern, College of Charleston, McNeese State, Wichita State and St. Peter’s.
