Day Two Standings

TRINITY, Texas – After an improvement of nearly 20 strokes from the first two rounds, the Kansas men’s golf team will head into Sunday’s final round of the Big 12 Championship with a total score of 905 (+41). The Jayhawks shot a 289 (+1) on Saturday, which was good enough to remain in sole possession of eighth-place.

Championship leader Texas shot an eight-under on the day, to bring its overall total to 865 (+1) and stay on top of the leaderboard amongst the 10-team field.

“We played better today,” Kansas head coach Jamie Bermel said. “Obviously a five-under round by Connor (Peck) really helped our team score but we need to put together another good round on Sunday.”

Entering Sunday’s fourth and final round, Peck will chase his sixth top-10 finish of the season, following his 67 (-5) on Saturday. In his first two rounds, the senior recorded back-to-back scores of 77, giving him a three round total of 221 (+5). He currently sits tied for 14th, as he stands 10 strokes back from individual leader Paul Barjon of TCU, who leads the 50-player field with a score of 211 (-5).

Behind Peck on Kansas leaderboard is sophomore Daniel Hudson, who carded a four-over, 76, in the third round. Through the first two days of the three-day event, Hudson totalled an overall score of 227 (+11), which is good enough to crack the top-30 and into a two-way tie for 29th.

Following an opening day that saw him finish inside the top-25, freshman Charlie Hillier slipped to a tie for 33rd after recording a 77 (+5) on Saturday. He enters Sunday looking to bounce back from his performance today, as he has carded a total of 230 (+14) strokes thus far.

Junior Chase Hanna saw himself climb up the leaderboard three spots, after carding an even, 72, in the third round. He sits just two strokes behind from the top-30, as he currently stands tied for 38th with a total of 231 (+15) strokes.

Rounding off the group of Jayhawks representing Kansas is senior Ben Welle. After recording a 74 (+2) on Saturday, Welle’s three-round total added up to 232 (+16), as he will look to move up the leaderboard, being tied for 40th.

The fourth and final round of the Big 12 Championship will take place on Sunday, May 1, with an 8 a.m. CT tee off. Kansas is paired with Kansas State and is scheduled to tee off at 8:22 a.m. CT. Live stats and up-to-date standings of the event can be viewed on golfstat.com.
