Men’s Golf places second in season opener at the Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wis. – The Kansas men’s golf team finished in second place out of 16 teams and shot a three-round, 8-under par 856 at the Badger Invitational at University Ridge Golf Course.

"We were just not very sharp today as a team. Seemed like whenever we had a little momentum, someone would have a bad hole."

Head Coach Jamie Bermel

The second-place finish marks Bermel’s 24th top-three placing while at Kansas. The team finished 14 strokes behind the winner, Notre Dame (842).

Kansas senior Andy Spencer posted 4-under 68 in his final round and finished the tournament tied for sixth place out of 96 golfers. Spencer, who shot a three-round 209 (-7), now has eight finishes in the top-10 in his Jayhawk career.

"Andy had a very solid start to his senior year. He played well, especially today."

Head Coach Jamie Bermel

Following Spencer was junior Ben Sigel, who carded 2-under par 214 for the tournament and placed 16th. Sigel shot a 73 (+1) on Tuesday. KU freshman Luke Kluver, who also shot a 73 in his final round, tied for 21st and shot even-par 216 in his Kansas debut.
