Kansas Jumps Two Spots as Jayhawks Sit in 17th After Day Two in Palm Desert

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Kansas Men’s golf team finished the second round in 17th place after recording a day two team score of 291 (+3), at the Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert at the Classic Club, Saturday. Kansas’ two round total is 590 which puts them at 14-over par for the tournament.
Sophomore Connor Peck led the Jayhawks in the second round as he carded a 69 (-3). Peck now has a two round total of 147 (+3) which places him in a tie for 59th in the 128-golfer field. Leading the Jayhawks in the tournament thus far is freshman Chase Hanna who recorded a 71 (-1) bringing his tournament total to 142 (-2), placing him in a tie for 26th.
Sophomore Ben Welle added to the Jayhawks score as he shot a three-over par, 75, which brings his two round total to 150 (+6), placing him in a tie for 75th. Just behind Welle is Junior Logan Philley who shot a 76 (+4), placing him in a tie for 82nd with a total score of 151 (+7).
Sophomore Jackson Foth rounded out the Jayhawks squad as he finished the round with a 78 (+6), bringing his total score to 157 (+13), placing him in a tie for 117th. Junior Stan Gautier, who is playing with the individual tag, recorded an 81 (+9), also putting him in a tie for 117th, with a total of 157 (+13).
Oregon took the lead after shooting a second round 279 (-9), bringing their two day total to 555 (-21) in the 23-team field. Colorado finished the day in second after shooting a 284 (-4), bringing their total score to 556 (-20), just one stroke behind Oregon.
The Desert Intercollegiate will conclude Sunday Feb. 23 with 18 holes. The players are set to tee off starting at 7 a.m. (PT).
