MADISON, Wis. – Behind top-10 finishers junior Connor Peck and sophomore Chase Hanna, the Kansas men’s golf team is tied for fourth after two rounds of the Badger Invitational at the University Ridge Golf Course Monday.
 
Kansas moved up the scoreboard after shooting a second round 294 (+6) Monday and has a two-round score of 588 (+12). The Jayhawks are tied with Toledo for fourth and two shots from second entering Tuesday’s final round. Sam Houston State leads the 13-team field with a score 576 (E). Marquette is in second at 586 (+10) and USC Upstate is third with a score of 597 (+11).
 
“We got off to a good start in much tougher conditions today, but just couldn’t get the round finished,” KU head coach Jamie Bermel said. “I believe we played the last two holes six over par.”
 
Hanna led KU by carding five birdies to finish tied for tied for fifth with a two-round 73-71—144 (E). He will enter the final 18-holes five strokes behind the leader Zach Cabra of Sam Houston State. Peck shot a two-round 71-74—145 (+1) and is in ninth heading into the final round, six strokes behind the leader.
 
“Chase and Connor have played solid and we need some help from the other guys,” Bermel said.
 
KU freshman Daniel Hudson is tied for 22nd after shooting a two-round score of 75-74—149 (+5). Freshman Gary Daoust is tied for 51st with a two-round 75-80—155 (+11) in his first tournament of the season. Junior Ben Welle is tied for 54th with a two-round score 81-75—156 (+12). Senior David Auer is playing as an individual with a two-round score 79-79—158 (+14). He is tied for 62nd in the 79-golfer field.
 
“Tomorrow, we need to play better and get the round finished,” Bermel said. “Five guys playing well for 18 holes.”
