Kansas to host sixth annual Jayhawk Jamboree
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas rowing will be back in Lawrence for the first of two home regattas this season, as KU hosts the sixth annual Jayhawk Jamboree on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Burcham Park.
Kansas will welcome 11 teams and over 120 boats for the only regatta of the year held on the Kansas River, racing begins at 11 a.m.. Among those competing from around the Midwest are Kansas State, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Central Oklahoma and Iowa. Club teams, including KU Crew, Kansas State Crew, Wichita State, Creighton, Colorado Crew and UMKC will also be present.
The Jayhawks have already brought home two medals during the fall season and will look to capitalize off of that momentum against some of the best competition in the region. KU earned gold in the women’s open 4+ and bronze in the women’s collegiate 4+ at the Head of Oklahoma.
The Jayhawk Jamboree is a head race style where the boats will start about 10-15 seconds apart from one another and the boat with the fastest time wins the race.
While Kansas will be competing on the water, spectators can take advantage of all the Jayhawk Jamboree has to offer on the banks of the river. Fans can enjoy food trucks from local vendors, a fun zone for kids, live music, the Kansas Spirit Squad and more.

In its final regatta of the fall, Kansas will travel to Oklahoma for Tulsa’s Fall Regatta on Nov. 3.
