Fourth-annual Movie Night in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium presented by DST Systems tabbed for June 14
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Athletics will open David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on Thursday, June 14 for the fourth-consecutive year for fans to bring their blankets and pillows and enjoy a free movie on the stadium videoboard as it is hosting Movie Night at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium presented by DST Systems.
The gates for Movie Night at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium will open at 5 p.m., and admission is free. Attendees will be able to enjoy the Fun Zone, which includes inflatable games, at the north end of Kivisto Field from 5-6:45 p.m., while the movie will start at 7 p.m. A variety of concession items will be available for purchase throughout the evening, and all guests will be allowed to bring in one unopened bottle of water.
Seating for the movie will be available on Kivisto Field with guests encouraged to bring their own pillows and blankets. Chairs will not be allowed on the playing surface. Bleacher and limited mobility seating will also be available in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
As for what movie will be shown, fans will make that determination, as they will vote between three movies. In 2017 fans chose Inside Out and around 1,500 turned out to watch. In 2016 fans selected “Minions” and in the inaugural movie night saw “The Lego Movie” played in 2015.
Voting will being on Thursday, April 19 and conclude on Thursday, May 3 at 5 p.m. Fans can vote by going to http://kuathletics.com/movienight. By casting their vote, fans will also be entered to win four tickets to the 2018 Kansas Football home game of their choice. Fans can only vote one time and will choose between the following three movie options:
“The Lion King” is a 1994 animated epic musical film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation. The film takes place in a kingdom of lions in Africa and tells the story of Simba who grows up in exile with best friends Timon and Pumbaa before returning to Pride Rock to take his rightful place as the King of the Pride Lands. “Toy Story” is a 1995 film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Directed by John Lasseter, “Toy Story” was the first feature-length computer-animated film and the first theatrical film produced by Pixar. “Toy Story” follows a group of anthropomorphic toys who pretend to be lifeless whenever humans are present, and focuses on the relationship between Woody, a pull-string cowboy doll and Buzz Lightyear, an astronaut action figure. “Up” is a 2009 computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walk Disney Pictures. The film centers on an elderly widower named Carl Fredrickson and an earnest boy named Russell. By tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl sets out to fulfill his dream to see the wilds of South America and complete a promise made to his late wife, Ellie. Vote Here
