From cold snaps to lingering rain clouds, the weather bug has taken a sizable bite of KU softball’s schedule this spring.

Wednesday’s rained-out game against Omaha, which was slated to be the Jayhawks’ nonconference finale, was the 13^th change in KU’s schedule this season.

Below is a breakdown of all the modifications and adjustments to KU’s original schedule:

Feb. 22 games against Louisiana-Monroe and Central Arkansas at the UCA Invitational were rained out and the tournament’s three-day schedule was pushed back one day (Feb. 23-25); Central Arkansas game was postponed to Feb. 25; Louisiana-Monroe game was canceled.
Boise State (Feb. 23) dropped out of the UCA Invitational and was replaced by Stephen F. Austin.
Feb. 23 game against Coppin State in the UCA Invitational was moved to Feb. 25.
Feb. 24 game against Austin Peay in the UCA Invitational was canceled due to rain and thunderstorms.
Feb. 27 home doubleheader against South Dakota State added to the schedule on Feb. 21.
First pitch of the March 8 home game against UMKC moved from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m., to avoid colder night temperatures.
March 11 games of the Jayhawk Invitational against Green Bay and Tulsa were canceled due to cold temperatures.
April 4 road game at Wichita State canceled due to changes in the Oklahoma State series.
April 6-8 series against Oklahoma State changed to a doubleheader on Thursday, April 5 starting at 2 p.m., with the series finale changing to Saturday, April 7 at 3 p.m. Changes were made to avoid forecasted cold temperatures.
April 14 game two of the series at Oklahoma moved back one hour to 4 p.m.
April 15 series finale between Kansas and Oklahoma series moved up two hours to 2 p.m.
April 20 (Saturday) game in the series at Baylor moved to a Friday doubleheader to avoid forecasted heavy rain and thunderstorms.
April 25 home game against Omaha rained out — will not be rescheduled.

Through it all, the Jayhawks are on pace to play 52 games in 2018, just below the maximum of 56 contests allowed in the NCAA bylaws.

Kansas wraps up the regular season by playing its final six games in the friendly confines of Arrocha Ballpark at Rock Chalk Park against Texas Tech this weekend, April 27-29, and Iowa State next weekend, May 4-6.
