Four Jayhawks to compete in ITA Summer Circuit this weekend

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Week five of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Summer Circuit is booked to begin this weekend and the Jayhawk Tennis Center at Rock Chalk Park will serve as one of the six host locations. Matches begin Saturday, July 21 and will run through Monday, July 23.

The Jayhawks will have four members of their 2108-19 roster competing in the event, including returnees Nina Khmelnitckaia and Janet Koch. Kansas incoming freshmen Malkia Ngounoue and Julia Deming are also slated for action on their home court.

The ITA Summer Circuit is currently made up of 49 events over six-consecutive weekends, starting in mid-June and continuing through the last weekend in July. The circuit provides an opportunity for current college players, as well as incoming freshmen, recent college graduates and junior players who are ITA members to compete during the summer months.

Singles matches will be two-out-of-three sets with a 10-point match tie break in lieu of a third set using no-ad scoring. Doubles will play an 8-game pro-set using no-ad scoring with a 7-point tie break held at 7-all.
