Kansas football spring game set for April 13

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Jayhawk fans can get their first glimpse of Kansas football head coach Les Miles and his 2019 KU squad on Saturday, April 13, as the annual spring game date has been set. While the game will be played in David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, a kickoff time and other details surrounding the event will be announced at a later date.

Per NCAA rules, KU will hold 15 practices during the spring season. As a safety precaution, in two of the practice sessions players will be limited to helmets only. Additionally, in a third session players are only allowed to dress out in helmets and shoulder pads, as they are required to go through an acclimatization period. The remaining 12 practice sessions, players are able to wear full pads and participate in live contact drills for a portion of practice.

Miles and the Jayhawks will open spring practice in early March with the spring game concluding marking KU’s 15th and final practice of the spring session. All other details for events and information surrounding the spring game will be announced at a later date.

KU will begin the 2019 season on August 31 vs. Indiana State. The Jayhawks will also host Coastal Carolina (Sept. 7) before Big 12 rivals West Virginia (Sept. 21), Oklahoma (Oct. 5), Texas Tech (Oct. 26/Homecoming, K-Club Weekend), Kansas State (Nov. 2/Dillons Sunflower Showdown) and Baylor (Nov. 23/Senior Day) visit Lawrence.
