Kansas Softball Position Breakdown: Outfielders

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball returns six who may see time in the outfield in 2019 and adds newcomer Macy Omli to a group that has potential to provide an immediate impact this season. Sophomore Brittany Jackson started all 52 games in 2018 and will join returners Emily Bermel, Sam Dellinger, Jennifer Marwitz, Brynn Minor and Tarin Travieso.
 
PLAYER BREAKDOWN
Emily Bermel | SR | Lawrence, Kansas | Bats/Throws: L/R
Bermel started 12 games for KU in 2018 and split time in right field with Jennifer Marwitz, Annie Mehringer, Brynn Minor and Mikayla Warren. She has appeared in 79 games through her three-year Kansas career with 39 starts and has a career .283 batting average.
 
Sam Dellinger | JR | Papillion, Nebraska | Bats/Throws: R/R
Dellinger played in 51 games with 48 starts in 2018 for the Jayhawks and was a mainstay at second base, starting 36 games. The Nebraska native added another 12 starts as the designated player and recorded a .283 batting average with 39 hits, 10 doubles and 18 RBI. Prior to her time with the Jayhawks, Dellinger starred at Creighton and was a 2017 All-Big East First Team selection. She started 50 games for the Blue Jays which included 15 in left field.
 
Brittany Jackson | SO | Mansfield, Texas | Bats/Throws: L/L
Jackson started all 52 games in center field for KU in 2018 and tallied 39 starts from the leadoff position, while registering a team-high 12 steals with 44 hits. She returns the second-highest batting average (.280) for the Jayhawks.
 
Jennifer Marwitz | SR | Oklahoma City, Oklahoma | Bats/Throws: L/L
Marwitz started three games in the outfield for Kansas in 2018 and logged a two-hit game in her first start of the season at Oklahoma. The Oklahoma City, Oklahoma native played in a total of 11 games last season, and has played in 25 games with five starts in her Jayhawk career.
 
Brynn Minor | SR | Wichita, Kansas | Bats/Throws: R/R
Minor appeared in 29 games in 2018 with 13 starts, including three in right field and 22 pitching appearances. The Butler Country Community College transfer made her largest impact as a pitcher, finishing with a 4-4 record, two saves and a 3.83 ERA. At the plate, Minor recorded a .120 batting average, .214 on-base percentage and a .120 slugging percentage.
 
Macy Omli | FR | Goddard, Kansas | Bats/Throws: L/R
Omli attended Eisenhower High School in Goddard, Kansas and was a three-sport athlete. In her sophomore campaign, the slap-hitting outfielder boasted a .722 batting average.
 
Tarin Travieso | SO | San Antonio, Texas | Bats/Throws: L/L
Travieso was named a Big 12 All-Freshman Team selection and 2017-18 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team honoree. The San Antonio, Texas native played in 41 games with 40 starts in her freshman campaign and split time as the designated player and at first base, while also assisting the Jayhawks inside the circle.
