Kansas women jump six spots in latest rankings to No. 22, men remain in top-25

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas women’s track & field team jumped six spots in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association weekly rankings, climbing into the top-25 for the second time this season at No. 22. The Kansas men also remained in the top-25 with a No. 24 ranking.
 
The Jayhawk women currently hold six top-20 NCAA marks this season, including the distance medley relay team that broke the school record at the Alex Wilson Invitational over the weekend. Freshman Ally Ryan and seniors Nicole Montgomery, Marleena Eubanks and Sharon Lokedi teamed up to post a combined time of 10:58.31 in the DMR in South Bend, Indiana on February 16 for the school record and No. 7 time in NCAA Division I this season.
 
Lokedi also holds two NCAA top-15 marks individually, ranking No. 3 in the 5,000 meters this season and No. 15 in the 3,000 meters. Eubanks also holds a top-20 mark individually, ranking No. 18 in the 800-meter run.
 
Freshman Rylee Anderson sits at No. 14 in the women’s high jump in the NCAA this season and junior Andrea Willis ranks No. 10 in the pole vault.
 
The Kansas men hold five NCAA top-20 marks this season. Pole vaulters Zach Bradford, Hussain Al Hizam and Kyle Rogers rank seventh, ninth and 16th, respectively, in Division I this season, while redshirt sophomore Gleb Dudarev ranks No. 4 in the weight throw. Junior Bryce Hoppel also holds a top-15 mark, ranking No. 13 in the 800-meter run.
 
The Jayhawks will compete at the 2019 Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championship in Lubbock, Texas, February 22-23 at Texas Tech’s Sports Performance Center. Any athletes that hold a top-16 mark in the NCAA following the conclusion of conference meet’s across the nation on Sunday, February 24 will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, March 8-9.
