BATON ROUGE, La. – The Kansas women’s golf team concluded the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on Sunday, placing tenth. The event was held at the par-72, 6,266 yard University Club course.

Despite carding eleven birdies in round two, the Jayhawks only hit on four in the final round which kept them from moving up the leaderboard. The Jayhawks carded a 336 (+48) in the final round for a three-round score of 87-over par 951 (306-309-336).

Senior Chomchana Phucanbanchob bounced back in the final round with an 80 (+8) effort, finishing with a three-round total of 237 (+21). She finished tied for 37th along with sophomore Sera Tadokoro. Tadokoro struggled to find a rhythm after posting an even par round and finishing within the top-20 on Saturday. She carded a 14-over 86 and the duo both leave the tournament as KU’s top finishers.

After carding an under par round during round one, Yi-Tsen Chou had early bogey trouble and ultimately fired a 15-over 87 in the final round, placing in a tie for 43rd. She finished with a three-round score of 239 (+23).

Freshman Pear Pooratanaopa shot 82 (+10) in the final round, finishing 239 (+23), tying for 40th.

Redshirt freshman Aristelle Acuff finished the tournament with 18-over par 90, shooting 250 (+34) over three rounds.

Individual Xinyun Yu emerged as the Jayhawk’s top finisher on Sunday, carding an 83 (+11). Yu finishes the event 236 (+20) and in a tie for 35th.

NOTES

  • Yi-Tsen Chou’s first round 71 is her eighth round of under par or better this season.
  • Chomchana Phuchanbanchob’s second round 72 is her fifth time this season shooting even par.

Quotes
Head Coach Erin O’Neil

On the team’s play this weekend:
“It was a very disappointing weekend for us in general but the last round was particularly rough. The weather was definitely challenging but we made it much tougher than it ever should have been. You’re not going to hit it great every round but you have to find a way to get the ball in the hole with your short game and mental game. We didn’t do that and unfortunately we didn’t adjust very well.”
