No. 14 KU tennis continues homestand against Iowa State and West Virginia

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The No. 14 Kansas tennis team continues its five-match homestand this weekend at the Jayhawk Tennis Center at Rock Chalk Park.

The Jayhawks (13-4 overall, 4-2 Big 12) will face Iowa State Friday at 5 p.m. and West Virginia Sunday at noon. Admission to both matches is free and pizza will be given away to those in attendance both days.

Live scoring and streaming will be available during both matches. Updates will also be available on KU tennis’ social media platforms.

The Jayhawks last weekend won the first two matches of the homestand, beating then-No. 25 Texas Tech and TCU.

IOWA STATE
The Cyclones are 5-8 overall, 1-4 in the Big 12. Kansas leads the all-time series against Iowa State, 44-3, and has won the last seven in a row. Last season the Jayhawks swept the Cyclones in Ames, 4-0.

WEST VIRGINIA
The Mountaineers are 10-7 overall, 0-5 in the Big 12. Kansas has won all seven matches played between the two teams. In 2018, the Jayhawks blanked the Mountaineers on the road, 4-0.

“It is nice to continue our home stand and play in front of our home crowd. This weekend we strive to continue improving and pushing ourselves in uncomfortable and adverse situations.”

This spring, the Jayhawks have beaten 11 teams that are either currently ranked or have appeared in the poll this season: Northwestern, Illinois, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, TCU, Baylor, Arkansas, Air Force, Tulsa, Rice and Wichita State. KU has not lost to any team outside the current top 15: Texas (No. 7), Oklahoma State twice (No. 12) and Washington (No. 15). Three of those four losses were by the score of 4-3.

On Friday and Sunday the Jayhawk Tennis Center will have a Minute to Win It Challenge. On Sunday, a Special Olympics clinic will follow the match.
