KU Relays to Feature Adidas Dream 100, Mile Races

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Always known for hosting one of the top high school meets in the nation, the Kansas Relays will be no different this year as the meet, now in its 88th year, will again feature the adidas Dream 100 and Dream Mile competitions. The races are qualifying events that will earn winners automatic bids to run at the adidas Grand Prix held on June 13 at Randall’s Island in New York.

“This is a great opportunity for some of the top high school athletes in the Midwest to qualify for one of the premier meets in the world, the adidas Grand Prix,” said Kansas Relays meet director Milan Donley. “We’ve collected some stellar fields for these events in the past and we anticipate nothing less this year.”

All four event finals will take place Saturday, April 18 inside Rock Chalk Park. Those athletes who are victorious will earn an automatic qualifying spot to compete at the adidas Grand Prix later this year. That meet, which is part of the world-wide Diamond League Series, features the best professional and high school athletes from across the globe.

The Kansas Relays girls’ and boys’ Dream 100 races are set for 10:54 a.m., and 10:57 a.m., respectively. The Dream Mile competitions, which will be 1,600-meter races, are slated for 11:31 a.m., and 11:54 a.m.

The 88th Kansas Relays will be held at Rock Chalk Park, April 15-18 and will feature high school and collegiate events, as well as a scored collegiate quadrangular on the afternoon of Saturday, April 18. For more information on the 2015 Kansas Relays, log on to KansasRelays.com.
