RCW: A Look Back 4.7

Kansas soccer hosted its first-ever Dillons Sunflower Showdown against Kansas State University last Friday at Rock Chalk Park. The team’s jerseys featured a traditional Kansas design, similar to the men’s basketball team’s 1950s-inspired alternate uniform worn in 2016. The cream jersey has crimson and blue stripes down the side and a 1941 Jayhawk on the right sleeve.

Over the years, as with any sport, soccer uniform design has changed. At Kansas, jersey design is the responsibility of Associate Head Coach Kelly Miller. His inspiration comes from classic design and European professional teams, as can be seen in the evolution of the jersey from solid red and blue with “Kansas” across the chest, to vibrant red and blue stripes with a bold Jayhawk on the chest.
