Decked Out – The pink adidas basketball shoes worn by the KU women’s basketball team during the ‘Jayhawks for a Cure’ game against TCU reflected brightly on the James Naismith Court in Allen Fieldhouse on Sunday, February 5.

T&T for a Cure – The KU women’s basketball mantra of being “tough and together” was displayed in a huddle after warmups where players wore shooting shirts honoring the hope and fight required for a cure to breast cancer. KU took on TCU in the ‘Jayhawks for a Cure’ game on Sunday, February 5 in Allen Fieldhouse.

Victory – During the opening tip of the ‘Jayhawks for a Cure’ women’s basketball game against TCU on Sunday, February 5, two fans held up a sign in Allen Fieldhouse celebrating their grandmother’s victory over cancer.

Here He Comes – Frank Mason III rose from the bench during his introduction before the KU men’s basketball game against Baylor in Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday, February 1. The senior guard, and national player of the year candidate, scored 19 points against the Bears and a career-high 32 points against Iowa State on Saturday, February 4. Mason is a national Oscar Robertson Trophy finalist, is listed on the Wooden Award Midseason Watch List and is a finalist for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award.

Incoming – Frank Mason III flew into the stands chasing a loose ball in Allen Fieldhouse during the men’s basketball game against Baylor on Wednesday, February 1. The senior guard leaped onto the table alongside the court before flying into the welcoming arms of KU fans.

Ants Marching – Members of the Marching Jayhawks band raced onto the James Naismith Court in Allen Fieldhouse to entertain the fans during halftime of the KU men’s basketball game against Baylor on Wednesday, February 1.

Raising the Roof – During halftime of the KU men’s basketball game against Baylor on Wednesday, February 1, the Marching Jayhawks band gave the fans a performance that raised the roof in Allen Fieldhouse.

Little Mermaid – Brooks Asher was joined by his adoring teammates as the freshman catcher played the role of the Little Mermaid during the KU baseball team’s musical performance highlighting various children’s animated musicals for the JayRock Variety Show on Monday, January 30.

Penny Wars – Senior thrower Kenny Boyer poured $25 in pennies into the track & field jug set in the Student-Athlete Support Services department in Anschutz Sports Pavilion during KU Leads’ “Penny Wars” that ran from January 23-27. Points were awarded for any coins dropped into the bottles, but any bills deducted points leading to gamesmanship by various teams in the friendly competition. Swimming & diving was named the “Penny Wars” victor during the annual JayRock Variety Show on Monday, January 30. However, the big winner was Children’s Mercy Hospital which received a check for $3,000 thanks to the donations.

Kicking Up Sand – Erik Harken kicked up a wave of sand after landing in the long jump pit during the second event of the two-day heptathlon. The sophomore had the fourth-best mark in the long jump and finished second overall in the seven-event competition during the Jayhawk Classic inside the Anschutz Sports Pavilion on Thursday and Friday, January 26-27.
