APRIL SHOWER – Frank Masterson, the Director of Rock Chalk Park, watered the infield inside Arrocha Ballpark on a warm, sunny day before the KU softball team played Oklahoma State in a doubleheader on Thursday, April 5. Due to the threat of cold weather, the first two games of a weekend, three-game series were moved up a day.

NIGHT FLIGHT – Lights inside Arizona State’s Sun Angel Stadium traced an outline of KU freshman pole vaulter Kyle Rogers as he cleared 5.15 meters (16-10.75 ft.) to win the open men’s pole vault during the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Arizona, on Friday, April 6.

MEMORIES – Members of KU’s 1983 College World Series baseball team watched a highlight video of the Series action on the Jayhawks’ Hoglund Ballpark video board after the team was honored during Alumni Day activities on Saturday, April 7.

HOT POCKET – The sight of KU first baseman Owen Taylor sticking his hand into the back pocket of his uniform was a common occurrence on Friday, April 6, as the senior and his teammates tried to warm their throwing hands during the game against Texas Tech inside Hoglund Ballpark where temperatures dropped into the upper 30’s with 22-24 mph winds.

SNOW BALL – KU senior pitcher Brandon Johnson swung a fungo bat to explode a snowball thrown to him inside Hoglund Ballpark during an April 8 snowstorm that fell before and during the Jayhawks’ Sunday baseball game against Texas Tech.

TRIBUTE – KU’s David Kyriacou wore a Jackie Robinson baseball jersey in a tribute to the former Brooklyn Dodger great who broke the Major League color barrier on April 15, 1947. The Jayhawks’ junior third baseman donned the Robinson jersey during warmups ahead of KU baseball taking on Texas Southern inside Hoglund Ballpark on Friday, March 2. On Sunday, April 15, while KU takes on TCU, all Major League players and on-field personnel will wear No. 42 in remembrance of the remarkable man.
