Electrified Strings

ELECTRIFIED STRINGS – The rising sun lit the strings of KU’s Desponia Vogasari’s racket during the opening round of doubles at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships played on the Lawrence Sports Pavilion courts at Rock Chalk Park on Thursday, October 19. The senior and her teammate, sophomore Tatiana Nikolaeva, went on to advance to the semifinals of the five-day event.

SASSY – Desponia Vogasari pumped her fist after winning a point during the singles final of the ITA Regional Championships at Rock Chalk Park on Monday, October 23. The KU senior fell to No. 2 seed Vladica Babic of Oklahoma State 6-2, 7-5.

WATER FOUNTAIN – Carly Straight’s powerful stroke sent water flying as she turned her head for a breath during the KU sophomore’s anchor leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay during the final day of the two-day, double dual against Missouri State and South Dakota inside Robinson Natatorium on Saturday, October 21.

Golden Strings

GOLDEN STRINGS – KU volleyball players were joined by Texas Tech players in wearing gold shoelaces to raise awareness of childhood cancer in the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer match on Saturday, October 21, inside the Horejsi Family Athletics Center. Proceeds from a silent auction benefited the Jayhawks for a Cure program.
