Junior Sharon Lokedi moved into No. 7 on the Kansas women’s indoor all-time performers list with her career-best time of 4:45.84 in the mile at the Mark Colligan Memorial meet Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska. Lokedi shaved 11 seconds off her previous-best time to record the fastest mile in the Big 12 this season and the 17th-fastest in the NCAA in 2018.

  

 

BRIANNA OSORIO

Junior guard Brianna Osorio led all scorers in Wednesday’s 68-56 loss to Texas Tech. Osorio netted a career-best 28 points, her first 20-point game of the season and the most scored by a Jayhawk in a single game this season. After scoring 14 points at TCU Saturday, Osorio averaged 21 points for the week, including 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists and steals. She shot 16-for-32 (.500) from the field and 8-for-9 on free throws.

  

 

 

BRYCE HOPPEL

Sophomore Bryce Hoppel picked up two victories at the Mark Colligan Memorial meet Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska, crossing the line first in both the 800-meter and mile runs. Hoppel notched a personal record in the mile, clocking in at 4:09.95 for the win. The Midland, Texas native later went on to win the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.13 to become the only Jayhawk to win two events on the day.

  

 

MALIK NEWMAN
Redshirt Sophomore | Jackson, Mississippi

For the second-straight week, redshirt sophomore Malik Newman guided the then No. 10 Jayhawks to a pair of Big 12 victories, as Kansas won 71-66 at No. 6 West Virginia last Monday and earned a 70-67 home win over Baylor Saturday. Newman averaged a team-best 16.5 points per game and added 6.5 rebounds per contest, which ranked second on the squad. He shot 9-for-20 (.450) from the floor, including 4-for-8 (.500) on threes.  He was also 11-for-13 (.846) at the charity stripe and added a pair of assists and steals.
