Junior Riley Cooney notched a win in the 800-meter run, in which she recorded a career-best time of 2:08.26, Saturday at the Ward Haylett Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas. Cooney’s clocking places her at No. 7 on the Kansas women’s all-time performers list in the 800 meters.

In her final weekend donning the Crimson & Blue, senior Erin McGinley made the most of her last series on the Jayhawk softball team. In three games against Iowa State, McGinley batted .500 on 6-for-12 hitting, including a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored. She also added a stolen base.

Sophomore second baseman James Cosentino not only helped the Jayhawks snap an 11-game losing skid, but spurred a road victory at Missouri State (Wednesday) and a Big 12 Conference series win over West Virginia last weekend.. Over the four games, Cosentino batted .400 (6-for-15) with a double and a pair of home runs, while adding six runs scored and four RBIs.

Hurler Taylor Turski took the mound Sunday afternoon against West Virginia for the rubber game of the series. Turski entered the game with the Jayhawks falling in each of his last seven starts, but the senior rebounded and dialed up a series victory for KU. He scattered five hits and a single walk over six innings, while allowing one run and posting seven strikeouts. Turski then turned the game over to the Kansas bullpen which sealed the 5-2 win.
