KHALIL HERBERT

On the first offensive play of Saturday’s Big 12 Conference opening loss to West Virginia, Herbert busted loose for an 18-yard gain in what proved to be a sign of things to come. Behind 36 carries, Herbert rushed for 291 yards, the third-best rushing total in Kansas history. He also added a pair of touchdown runs, the first for 67 yards and the second from five yards out.

The Desert Forest Golf Club in Carefree, Arizona, proved to be a challenging host for the Maui Jim Intercollegiate as only 15 of 78 golfers in the field were able to play at par or better over three rounds.  Sutton was one of them. The Birmingham, England native notched his 19th career top-20 finish and his second straight to open the season, as he finished tied for 12th overall.

The Jayhawks claimed their sixth-straight Dillons Sunflower Showdown Sunday thanks in large part to the court-awareness of Havili. The Kansas senior dished out 55 assists and added 10 digs to collect her 12th double-double of the season in the five-set comeback victory at Kansas State. Havili orchestrated the Jayhawk offense to a .342 hitting percentage.

Women’s Tennis | Jr.-2L

In the first event of the fall season, Koch posted three-straight singles victories and walked away with the Rice Invitational Flight 1 Singles championship Sunday at George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston. In the title match, Koch cruised past Houston’s Tsveta Dimitrova 6-4, 6-0 for the win.
