RCW: KU Leads 4.4

KU Leads’ mission of enhancing the student-athlete experience can occur through several different avenues, one of which is professional development. There are several upcoming professional development events Jayhawk student-athletes have the opportunity to attend to help prepare them for life after college.

Resumes workshops, which focus on providing student-athletes with the X’s and O’s behind crafting a professional resume and highlighting the transferable skills they gain as Jayhawk student-athletes, will take place on Sept. 20, Oct. 18 and Nov. 13. Also this fall, a senior student-athlete and Williams Fund Donor roundtable will be featured on Oct. 9.

While a solid resume and cover letter are important, the interview part of the process is what can really open doors when searching for a job. This is why KU Leads will be hosting an interview prep class on Oct. 12 and offering mock interviews slots on Oct. 23 and 24, both in the mornings and evenings. These mock interviews allow student-athletes the ability to practice interviewing just like they practice for the sport in which they compete in at Kansas.

Lastly, student-athletes have the opportunity to schedule one-on-one meetings with Director of Student-Athlete Development Ben Wilson, to work on professional development skills and learn about other resources available to them through KU Leads.
