RCW: SAAC donates to Festival of Trees

As part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s annual philanthropic efforts, the group donated a KU-themed Christmas tree to the Lawrence Festival of Trees.

The Festival of Trees is the primary fundraising event for The Shelter Inc., a local agency serving children and families from Lawrence and surrounding communities.

This year’s tree was a Jayhawk fan’s dream as it featured a blue tree with crimson accents, along with signed sports equipment from every KU team.

SAAC’s tree was auctioned off for nearly $500.

KU Leads, the Kansas Jayhawks’ student-athlete development unit,  focuses on leadership training, community engagement, traditions and professional development to enhance the student-athlete experience. Within KU Leads, the Kansas K Club – the department’s letterwinners association – has the mission is to help preserve the history and traditions of Kansas Athletics, support current student-athletes, and connect former participants, coaches, student athletic trainers and managers of varsity sports at the University of Kansas.
