RCW: Preparing for success outside the lines

On the calendar, Thursday, September 22 not only marked the first official day of fall, but also the first resume workshop for Jayhawk student-athletes. KU Leads, which hosts several resume and career-orientated events each semester, gave student-athletes a chance to get together and spend some time working through building a professional resume.

This event focused on learning the X’s and O’s of crafting a resume that will help the student-athletes land interviews for future internships and jobs. At KU Leads, we believe where student-athletes might lack work experience they make up for that in the transferable skills they display while competing as Jayhawks.

KU Leads, the Kansas Jayhawks’ student-athlete development unit,  focuses on leadership training, community engagement, traditions and professional development to enhance the student-athlete experience. Within KU Leads, the Kansas K Club – the department’s letterwinners association – has the mission is to help preserve the history and traditions of Kansas Athletics, support current student-athletes, and connect former participants, coaches, student athletic trainers and managers of varsity sports at the University of Kansas.
